AWS & Natural History Museum Presents: The Future of Biodiversity - Launch Night
WHO.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform that accelerates innovation in businesses of all sizes. Sleek has supported AWS since 2015 in the delivery of events ranging from private meetings through to 12,000+ delegate Summits.
WHAT.
AWS engaged Sleek to deliver a launch event for their exciting new partnership with the Natural History Museum. The event – AWS Presents: The Future of Biodiversity in association with the Natural History Museum showcased their partnership which will bolster the Museum's scientific research capabilities and store UK biodiversity and environmental data in one place.
The Data Ecosystem will be made available to the museum’s 350 scientists, as well as researchers at its partner institutes across the UK to encourage cross-disciplinary research programs. The partnership was to be launched at an evening event at the Natural History Museum for an exclusive guest list of 500. The evening would include a welcome drinks & canapé reception, talks from key voices, panel discussions and exclusive access to exhibitions.
HOW.
Sleek provided a full project management service to AWS for this project, from event delivery to invitation copy plus the opening video production.
The Natural History Museum is a world-famous structure which required a complementary approach to the AWS branding; the external building was illuminated in the event colours and the internal event space featured the AWS brand logo projected on the 150-year-old architecture. In addition, up lighting was used to highlight the venue's detail and the iconic blue whale skeleton that is suspended from the ceiling was dramatically illuminated. The result was incredibly striking.
Due to the building being a world-famous tourist destination, Sleek had to set up the event following its closure to the public - just 30 minutes prior to the evening starting. When guests arrived they were greeted by a string quartet which perfectly complemented the historic setting.
Encouraging networking was a primary goal of the event and Sleek ensured the flow, furniture setting, and catering enabled this to occur with ease.
The speakers featured Rachel Lockwood - EMEA Marketing Director, AWS and Dr Doug Gurr – Director, Natural History Museum. The panel session also featured notable voices in the subject field. Due to the spacious nature of the venue, it was essential that a tailored audio solution was utilised to ensure guests could enjoy the conversations and the sound was of the highest quality.
Sustainability was a shared passion for every brand involved, including Sleek, therefore vegetarian canapes & bowl food were served, the lanyard & totems were recycled, and the cooking oil was reused for fuel to name only a few elements. In addition, the catering company provides a meal to a child in poverty for every meal served.
