AWS Summit Online 2021 - EMEA

Project Background

The 2021 AWS Summit Online EMEA is a 2 - day event made up of Innovation Day and Builders Day.

The experience aims to bring together the cloud community from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) to hear keynotes from local industry leaders, dive deep into educational sessions, engage in hands-on labs, and chat one to one with AWS experts. Looking for support to bring these traditionally in-person events into the virtual world, AWS partnered with Sleek to create an experience that would educate, engage and showcase AWS products and services.

Aiming to engage over 30,000 attendees over 2 days, Sleek’s event experts were responsible for managing the build and design within the AWS selected event platform, managing event speakers, ensuring translations of the event were available in 8 different languages, agenda building, virtual engagement strategies and more!

The Sleek Approach

Working within a 3-month event turnaround time, the AWS Summit Online 2021 - EMEA would be semi-live content on a virtual platform but engage the community with a live Q&A after each event session along with gamification elements.

Sleek worked on copywriting all speaker session descriptions in English then had our translator perform the French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish, and Hebrew versions. From there, all event creative assets were designed by Sleek including:

• Sizzle Reels

• Event branding edits based on platform and localisation needs

• Influencer teaser videos

• Event banner ads

• Logos

• Social media tiles

• Speaker images 

As all event sessions would contain pre-recorded content, Sleek worked with each individual speaker to set up a recording time that aligned with AV teams, answer all event queries, send an AWS speaker kit of required equipment and ensure recordings were of high quality. As each speaker needed to have the same piece of equipment and speakers were located all around the world, Sleek worked to find the matching piece of equipment (e.g. microphone or webcam) that would work specially in each speaker's country. With over 260 event sessions, this was quite the task!

Sleek had to create a large spreadsheet of metadata that got converted into a script, this task included:

• Creating a spreadsheet of metadata descriptions of speaker bios, sessions descriptions, event notifications along with each individual event time and date and in every language the event was presented in

• Uploading all individual graphic assets for the event including any images, pdfs, videos, logos and speaker presentations that would be used throughout any part of the event

• All up, this amounted to a substantial content upload created and managed by Sleek.

To assist in promoting the event, Sleek’s team of experts managed the copywriting of all social media posts, website copy and FAQ’s.

The Results

The AWS Online Summit 2021 - EMEA was a huge success with over 30,000 attendees!

Wanting to add an extra engaging element to the platform, Sleek had the platform designed with a treasure hunt that all attendees could participate in to win a prize, again the treasure hunt was designed in all 8 languages!

To help with additional engagement features, attendees were able to build a personalised agenda suited to their interests for which Sleek then had a notifications element added to the platform where attendees were notified when event sessions were about to start that they were interested in.

Speakers took part in a live Q&A following each session which (or to) build a repour with attendees and further knowledge share on specific topics of interest.

The event remains on-demand now for 3 months to ensure that all content can be revisited but also for attendees who registered but were unable to attend.
